Sarasota is a city located in Sarasota County on the southwestern coast of the U.S. state of Florida. It is south of the Tampa Bay Area and north of Fort Myers. Its current official limits include Sarasota Bay and several barrier islands between the bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Today the keys that are included in the boundary of Sarasota are Lido Key, St. Armands Key, Otter Key, Coon Key, Bird Key, and portions of Siesta Key.
Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (IATA: SRQ, ICAO: KSRQ, FAA LID: SRQ) is an airport located between Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida. The airport is shared by both Manatee County (airfield) and Sarasota County (terminal). Most airlines refer to the airport on destination maps and flight status displays as just "Sarasota", as that is the more widely known city.
The warm climate helped the Sarasota area become a popular golf destination. Some of them are John Hamilton Gillespie, TPC Prestancia, Gulf Gate Golf Club, Village Green Golf Club of Sarasota. Many other varied Points of Interest are found throughout this region - Crowley Museum & Nature Trail, Ed Smith Stadium, Manatee County Civic Center, Botanical Gardens, Museums and Exhibits.
