Revel Casino in Atlantic City can’t seem to catch a break. Nearly $21,000 was lost after falling off a GardaWorld armored truck that made a cash pickup at Revel on August 6.
A review of surveillance video shows the bag holding the cash left on top of the truck as the driver makes two pickups, according to an incident report from The Press of Atlantic City. It is not clear where or when the bag fell off.
Joe Gavaghan, GardaWorld spokesman said the company is cooperating with the authorities and an investigation is underway to find out what happened to the money.
With losses of between $1 million to $2 million a week, the casino which opened only in 2012 is already slated to close on September 2. The main reason is that neighboring states like Pennsylvania and New York legalized gambling to increase tax revenue and new casinos popped up.
