A bare chested guy decided to show off the horsepower of his 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder. However, he should have made sure he was out of the parking lot first. The scene happened on the Epi Plage in the French city of St. Tropez and was captured on video by a bystander. Just a few minutes after uploaded to YouTube, the video started going viral.
With a beautiful blonde in the passenger seat and playing up to the camera, the guy decided that the parking lot full of people and cars was a good place to show off.
After shooting across the car park, the driver narrowly missed a group of people walking through the parking lot who would have been seriously injured. The guy lost control while trying to weave around cars and pedestrians. He wasn’t able to stop the Porsche in time and eventually ended the hypercar into a tree.
The crash seems to be a pretty serious one, with the supercar’s airbags being deployed. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
Porsche 918 Spyder is a limited-edition hybrid sports monster that has 887 horsepower and starts at $845,000. After the crash, the driver didn’t seem worried at the damage while stepping out of the car. He was laughing and even waving to the crowd as his girlfriend obviously wasn’t so happy.
The man, who is said to come from Russia, will definitely face a heavy insurance claim but if one owns a $845,000 Porsche they can probably afford it.
Yet, there are questions that need to be answered. Does the guy own this Porsche 918? Was he clean or on drugs? Despite the questions remaining unanswered for now, this is definitely one of the worst crashes we’ve seen to date.
Watching this reminds us that even one of the fastest and safest cars ever made could still crash into a parked car when a cocky driver is behind the wheel.
