A fire truck parked at a California freeway was hit by a Tesla Model S reported being in ‘autopilot’ mode. The driver was not seriously injured but the vehicle suffered significant damage.
The fire truck had been parked in the left emergency lane, blocking off the scene of a previous accident, authorities said. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Interstate 405 in Culver City.
The union representing Culver City firefighters whose truck was hit said the driver claimed he had been using Tesla’s Autopilot system.
