“Driving a really good luxury SUV is all about having the nicest ‘useful box’ that money can buy,” says Richard Homan of Kelley Blue Book, which recently named 2013’s Best Luxury SUVs.

5. Infiniti JX: The best feature of this car is the space it provides. Three rows of seats offer plenty of passenger room, or you can fold the seats flat to create a cavernous more cargo space. The second-row seats even tilt and slide as much as 5.5 inches to allow for easy third-row access. It also has continuously variable automatic transmission and a 265-horsepower V-6 engine, as well as all sorts of standard or optional safety equipment.
4. Lexus RX: This SUV Is constructed for up to 5 passengers. It comes in two types of engines – gas powered and hybrid. The standard is to come with front-wheel drive, a 270-horsepower V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission. It is Lexus’s best-selling vehicle.
3.Porsche Cayenne: Porsche is already a synonym for luxury, wealth and class and the Cayenne in this chart is just another proof. The base Cayenne has a beefy 300-horsepower V-6 engine, but 400- and 500-horsepower V-8 versions are available — as are diesel and hybrid editions.
2.Mercedes GL-Class: The second to best SUV seats seven people and even the base version comes with a twin-turbo, 362-horsepower V-8 engine, while costlier trim lines offer as much as 550 horsepower.
And the winner is… Land Rover Range Rover – Completely redesigned for 2013, the five-passenger Range Rover features an aluminum frame that improved acceleration, handling and fuel economy by cutting some 700 pounds off of the previous version’s weight. After decades establishing itself as an off-road icon, the Range Rover continues to hone its on-road comfort. In that respect, the fourth-generation Range Rover is a testament to how far this British SUV has come. The 2013 Range Rover is lighter, nimbler, more technologically advanced, and even more comfortable and capable than its predecessor.
