Ford just unveiled its 2019 Edge ST- a higher-powered version of the popular SUV.
The ST edition of the Edge sport utility vehicle was introduced last Thursday in advance of the Detroit auto show. This new Ford Edge will be the first SUV ever that joins the Ford Performance lineup, which includes vehicles as the GT supercar and the Shelby GT350 Mustang. It features specific styling, a sport suspension, and performance tuning.
Powered by a performance-focused 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, the Edge ST will be the most powerful engine in its class. The twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine will develop 380 pound-feet of torque. The 2018 Edge powertrain is paired with an all-new-8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system as standard.
Other features that will be available include driver-assistance technologies such as post-collision braking, evasive steering assist, which enhances last-minute steering and maneuverability around slow and stopped vehicles, and adaptive cruise control with the segment-first lane centering.
The suspension has also been enhanced, the front seats are with sportier bolstering, and the mesh grille is wider in order to improve the cooling of the turbo, dual exhaust ports are added.
Pricing options have not yet been announced but it is estimated to cost more than the standard $30,215 base price. Some experts assume that the Edge ST will be cheaper than the SUVs from Jaguar, Porsche, Audi, Land Rover, Maserati, and others.
